Default Steam for Mac

Not sure if everybody heard the news, but Steam is coming out for Mac soon (I think in April). Not only that, but Mac is a "tier-1" platform for Valve, meaning they'll be coming out with their games for Mac, PC, and Xbox all at the same time. Not only that, but just as with Steam for PC, Steam for Mac will support all the same features and you won't have to buy the game again, since it's per account, not per machine. I hope this not only brings more games to Mac, but also forces better/earlier hardware releases for graphics card manufacturers (none of this several months later BS they currently pull).

Personally, I think this is a huge announcement from Valve and for the Mac gaming community (as small as it may be). As much as I love building PCs and I actually dig Windows 7, I love the quality that Apple brings to the table.

That being said, Valve already takes forever to release games for a single platform, I hope this doesn't make it even worse.

Tomorrow (May 12th) is the day! It should work nicely on my new iMac at work. I think it'll be mostly only Valve games (TF2, Portal, etc.) at first, but Torchlight will also be available. Can't wait! Also, makes me want to upgrade to a new Macbook Pro very soon. Those things are sexy.

Those who are interested, you can download the steam for mac client here: http://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=htt...g&t=1273684864

Steam has still not activiated the service, so you may get a closed beta message until the service is activated.

Games are downloading Although for some reason TF2 isn't listed in my games in the client, but is listed in my account info. It is available for the Mac too, so maybe it's some weird bug. I've got Torchlight and they gave away Portal for free.

Default No Civ IV

I've got portal downloaded now but, I can't download Civ IV. Not sure why... It shows up in my library and doesn't show the unavailable for this platform message but, when I try to install it says unavailable for your platform then. Strange. I'm sure they'll get all the bugs worked out soon.
